abode flea market June 18

I have a taste for the East, in my opinion, one of the most romantic words in the English language is Orient.  The thought of the souks and bazaars wafting spices and stacked with colorful fabrics makes me weak.

This market we feature the Occidental inspirations of Sue Gregory - her designs make me think of Morocco by moonlight . . . in her own words:

"a few words about my jewelry......i like to find vintage looking pieces (pendants, beads, whatever) wherever I can, and incorporate them into beautiful, unique jewelry.  I usually go for dramatic looking pieces & contrasting colors.  i never make the same thing twice, so each piece is truly one of a kind."

Come and see for yourself!

More Market Madness

We're pleased to welcome the creations of JB's Colors to our May market.

All of their beads and pendants are hand blended colors that compliment each other to achieve balance and harmony. They start with a focal color and add different shades and hues. After curing each is sanded to it's final shape and a coat of varnish is added to complete. Visit their etsy shop here.

A New Use for Old Wallpaper

Hey there Abode shoppers!

It's Char from Crap I've Made again.  It's good to be back!  I'm excited to show you another project made from my Abode finds.

Last time I was here, I talked about shutters.  I also mentioned that I had picked up this beauty:

D7K_4431

It’s a wallpaper sample book (and I've been told there are several more at Abode right now).  At first look, it was frightening.

May11

But, the more I thought about it, the more I thought I could make something fabulous.  The result?

Wallpaper Pennant Bunting

D7K_4430

Supplies:

Wallpaper
Double fold bias tape
Sewing machine
Pennant template (you can make it whatever size you want, but I’m including mine for those who are feeling especially lazy)

I’m sure you’ve seen this general concept before, so this will be brief.

Cut out pennant shapes from your wallpaper.

D7K_4382

Bias tape has one side slightly shorter than the other.

D7K_4383

You want the short side on top.

I like to leave about a 4” tail on the bias tape for hanging purposes.

Stitch the pennant pieces inside the bias tape.  I used a long straight stitch but a zig zag would be cute, too.

D7K_4387

When you get to the end of that piece, put another one in.  Continue until you reach your desired length.

D7K_4393

Add another one, if you want.

D7K_4409

The perfect finishing touch?

D7K_4423

This (FREE!) printable from the girls at eighteen25.  It comes in a bunch of other colors, too.

‘Scuse me whilst I go stare at my mantel for a bit.
