Ants in our pants
The beloved and I will be celebrating our 4th anniversary of wedded bliss (ha!) by having a booth at the Gardner Village Farmers Market! We'll have the goods . . . a fresh batch of marquee letters, wooden letterpress, register flags, typewriter keys and other oddities curated especially for the market. The shop will be open as usual so come to the market and see us, or shop at abode and mention the break in special for 20% off one item.
We'll leave the back door open for ya, (wink)

It's a good news bad news story
"The front door is smashed and the back door is open", not exactly the words you look forward to hearing at the start of abode's day!
Someone who reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaally likes quarters and rhinestones paid us a visit over night (kind of sounds like an old-timey burlesque dancer - doesn't it?)
The abode girls are hearty souls and we have some great friends - our door is fixed, the show goes on AND we're having a 20% off one item sale - we're calling it the "Break in special". Just mention that you saw it here or on Facebook and faster than a cat burglar we'll give you 20% off!
And next time - if you're going to rob us - at least shut the back door (LOL)

I might be curled up in a treat coma by the end of the flea!
My nephew, Adam is earning money to go to Japan and his two grandmas are baking up a storm. Take a look at me and you'll know exactly what kind of cook my mom is and his other grandma is every bit her equal.
Don't say I didn't warn you!

And so the poor doggie had none!
You'll want to find another place for your doggie treats when you see this cupboard redux. Amber bought a delicious cupboard from abode and covered the shelves with antique wall paper and filled it with clothes and treasures. Country Living . . . point your cameras here!

flea 4 all and The Dr's Barn
flea 4 all
may 19th is the date
abode is the place
My great-grandparents lived in a big craftsman bungalow in Bountiful. Grandma was a no-nonsense woman who spoke her mind and took no prisoners when it came to Grandpa, who she called "The Dr.". Yes, he was a Dr. but calling him that, really? He was a big red-head who loved my mom, being a physician, farming and collecting stuff, (I knew it was genetic).
He had a garage they called the barn and it was one of those places you could climb some wiggly wooden stairs and go on a hunt of epic proportions - think Jumanji meets National Treasure with a little Chuckie mixed in just to keep it lively. We spent hours fluffing dust bunnies and screaming about spiders as we rooted through years of accumulation.
OK, I know you are rolling your eyes after this diatribe but I really do have a point . . . this market vendor will present a stash that could rival the barn! Look at that plaid garment bag . . .come and see her Saturday!

Meet Lauren, meet Lauren's cool collections at the flea!
"I have been into vintage and making things as long as I can remember. I spent my summers with my grandmother Ruthie Pearl (my business's namesake) who worked in a sewing factory called "Ala-Tex" (Alabama Textiles) for 45 years. She had suitcases full of men's shirt fabrics that I would sew into doll clothes and nighties. My parents owned a dry cleaning business, and the two old ladies who did all the seamstressing would give me impromptu lessons almost daily. There were huge boxes overflowing with old buttons and fabric scraps - it was heaven! Add to that the Goodwill store across the street from the dry cleaner...and its drawers full of $.25 sewing patterns...and you had a foundation for an obsessive crafter.
Now, I have an eagle eye for spotting a good-condition, 60s-era sewing pattern or piece of Pyrex. I get giddy at the sight of milk glass, and even giddier at the sight of someone who loves it as much as I do. As much as I hate turning down some pieces, I am quite picky when it comes to actually purchasing pieces for resale, and I get a thrill out of carefully cleaning and arranging vintage goods into attractive groupings. I wish I could keep it all for myself, but my husband would kill me...my one-year-old would break it all...and my 99-year-old bungalow just couldn't contain it. That's why I'm so happy to share all my amazing finds with the patrons of the Abode Paris Flea Market!"
