I hope you had a chance to browse the avenues street fair - we had a booth and it was a day of fun meeting new people and hugging old friends! Cathie made this adorable banner and we sold sold sold!

Remember the days when you could get sticky and gooey and you biggest worry was how short your mom was going to have to cut your hair to even it up to match the chunk she had to cut out because you fell asleep with GUM IN YOUR MOUTH!!!!? Remember when strangers weren't strangers if they had candy? And the sure-fire remedy for that icky coating on your teeth from eating too much candy was more candy?

Remember the days when Red Dye #2 sounded like someone who needed more sleep and to use the toilet?

And the worst thing that could happen is for you to drop your sucker on the carpet - dipping dipping dipping it in a cup of water to get the hair off so you could eat the rest.

Craft Lake City "sniff"

Look at the joy as Cathie Cox and I browse Craft Lake City at the Gallivan Center! I had mixed feelings because I loved seeing what was there and making connections with the hip and happenin' artisans, (some of which will be at our last MARKET of the season on September 19th) and yet the bitter taste of REJECTION! I applied to be a vendor and it appears I am not quite hip and happenin' enough for the event. Yes, you may stamp a huge DENIED across my forehead.

Actually, I am quite thrilled to go and enjoy the evening, I'm a hearty soul, you know!

From the days when phone conversations were an art form, this telephone table hearkens back to the party line, the phone number that started with a word then moved to initials (SH7-1523) and you had to sit in the vestibule to talk on the phone, even if it was that dreamy guy from the malt shop!

You needed a place for the phone book and the family phone numbers kept in a space age looking metal Rolodex with a plastic arrow that slid up and down to select the letter of the alphabet.

You never ate, drove or ordered take out while talking on the phone and your kid brother announced the progression of the phone call to the entire family.

I have a creepy fascination with old dolls and I know I'm not alone! There is something deep and mysterious about their staring eyes, I always wonder where they came from and how many little hands have primped and pressed them over the years. How many little baths they have taken, how many naughty brothers have scribbled on them with blue Bic pen (yeah, Skipper and Barbie, fear the pen!).

I'm not a true antique connoisseur - I just love them for their appeal - what about you?
