My name is Miriam and I am the proverbial "man behind the curtain". As the owner of abode I appreciate Katie and Amanda, the creative forces that run and dress the shop everyday! My "day job" is in the software industry, I have traveled to every state but Alaska, eaten the ear of a pig and have 11 syllables in my full name. I can't wait for the next season of AMC's Rubicon. My favorite abode acquisition was a husband! I love this shop - it reflects my personal style, "vintage circus fun meets retro wedding kitsch". I adore the unique personalities that come through the door and I never want to wake up from this dream!
Once upon a time there was a girl named Katie. She loved crafting, reading, singing and headbanging. She lived in Salt Lake with a handsome boyfriend, a naughty basset hound and one very fat orange cat. Her style could be best described as "David Bowie casual." One day she saw a turquoise castle that said ABODE. She went in and has been there ever since. Sometimes she leaves to go to school or watch Jazz games, but somehow she always turns up again.
Amanda Lynn is a certified gypsy, country girl, book nerd, and vintage enthusiast. When she's not at Abode she's a furniture refinishing fanatic, a thrifter extraordinaire, and the world's slowest student. (Someday I'll graduate mom, promise.) She also runs a social media management company and thus, will blog your face off. She lives in downtown Salty City with her best friend and two disturbingly anti-social kittens named Puck and Oscar.
Her style would best be described as: well-traveled mid century housewife.
